A mother-in-law suite in a historic Fresno neighborhood had an outdated bathroom exhaust fan that wouldn’t turn on. At 5D Handyman Service, we noticed newer models had different dimensions, so replacing the bathroom exhaust fan also meant handling some drywall work. The project went smoothly. We crafted a new opening and reduced the roof vent pipe from a 6″ to a 4″ diameter, sealing all joints with foil tape. We wired and mounted the new unit and filled the leftover space with a new piece of drywall using joint compound and tape for a smooth finish. The client then chose to paint the ceiling themselves.
